My Semestral Break
{Posted on Sun, Nov. 06, 2011 | Comments}

To start this blog post, semestral break is like a term break just so you know. The ones we have in my country last only for a week or more. It usually occurs on the last week of October and coincides with halloween. My break has been truly a one to remember. Let me tell you about it.

Work modeOctober 24 and 25, Monday and Tuesday. The first two days I spent in the office working since there was only one manager and another one was needed to watch over the employees. There weren’t much to do in the office, I’d get called a few moments for something and that’s about it. I spent most of the time in the office Skyping with some friends. First time I’ve tried Skype’s group video calling, too bad it ain’t free. -.-

October 26 and 27, Wednesday and Thursday. My days off work. I spent them two malls with two sets of friends. Fantastic days especially Thursday. I was with friends who had this craze for a certain kind of frozen yogurt which also got me in. Haha, I can’t blame them, Red Mango tastes so darn good. We also watched Praybeyt Benjamin (Private Benjamin), a comedy-drama movie, it really made us laugh hard, especially me since I watched it twice. T’was all great and fun. :P

October 30, 31, 1, 2. Sunday till Wednesday. The long awaited days off to Thailand. My mum and I started planning it as early as March. We even coordinated the dates with each other. We really decided to take the time off and relax. We went to four places in Thailand, namely, Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Krabi and Phuket.

One of zee best shots in my camera of the Thailand trip.Bangkok was indeed a busy city with everyone living their fast paced lives. Samut Prakan is where their airport is located, mind you, the airport in a real biggie. Its just like the Hong Kong International Airport. All the time I was in the airport, I was either eating or running around to catch the next flight to the next place. Phuket is an island an hour and a half away by plane from Samut Prakan. This was where we spent the majority of our time. Shopping in Phuket is really the main thing I wanted to do. I was able to buy all my Christmas gifts as early as now! Haha, believe it or not, the prices on price tags still can be bargained for 25 to 30% off! Krabi is just off the coast of Phuket and is accessible my a 30 minute speed boat ride. It has tons of beaches, by tons, I mean more than 10, that surround it. During my trip, I’ve learned a lot of things and made a lot of friends. I can now walk in the streets of Thailand and be confident not to get lost because my Thai has improved! Haha. Since the people in Phuket weren’t I can even speak it with the accent. I also managed to fool some fellow Filipinos on the flight back home that I was Thai. lol People from South East Asia actually look quite a like, you would only notice the difference when you hear them speak. I had a lot of firsts too in my trip. Over all, I had a wonderful experience and if you’d ask me, I’d like to do it all over again but for a longer amount of time.

The break is over and everything is once again back to how it used to be. School events are also over thus really bringing everything back to normal again. Here we go again with 9 hours straight of studying. Hahaha! :P
